The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
This romantic tragedy begins in 1957. A car mechanic, guy Foucher, has recently fallen inlove with 17-year-old Geneviève Emery, an employee in the posh but fiscally embattled umbrella shop of her widowed mother. On the day before Guy will be to leave in Algeria, he and Geneviève make love. She becomes pregnant and must choose between accepting an offer of marriage or looking forward to the reunite of Guy.
