Palestine, 1917. The Turkish line that runs from Gaza to Beersheba has halted the British advance. The most recent attack on Gaza has failed. The attacking forces included the Light Horse regiment of Australian mounted infantry... Lighthorseman Frank is injured in a battle with Bedouin. He is replaced by Dave, a young soldier who is a good shot but is hesitant to fire at the enemy. Dave proves himself during a German biplane attack. While recovering in the hospital, he meets Anne, a sympathetic nurse... The regiment is called upon to launch a daring flanking attack on Beersheba. But how do you persuade the Turks that the main attack will be on Gaza? And how do you attack across a desert without water?
