Ny, albany, Halloween, 1938. Francis Phelan and Helen Archer are bumsback in their own arrival city. She was a singer on radio stations, he a significant league pitcher. Death surrounds them a pal has cancer, he digs on graves and visits to the grave of his infant son whom he fell. Visions of the past haunt him he murdered. Out drinking, Helen attempts to sing in a pub that night. Nextday, Fran meets a grandson also visits with his wife and children. He can stay, but decides it's not because of him. Helen finds out a hotel and gets their things from storage. Assessing their mistakes and dereliction, the film investigates their code of loyalty and equity.
