The Virginian can be an American television show starring Doug McClure and James Drury, that aired from 1962 to 1971 for an overall total of 249 episodes on NBC. It was a series called choice. Filmed in color, The Virginian became television's earliest 90-minute western show. Immensely powerful, it ran for nine seasons--the third western of television. It follows Bonanza at 430 episodes and two seasons, and Gunsmoke at 635 episodes and twenty five seasons.
